Vacation From My Vacation

Driving out to Palm Desert...
The funny thing about vacations is upon returning home I always feel like I need a vacation from my vacation.  It's not that it wasn't relaxing, it's just that I seemed to "do" a lot (which didn't really include naps).  And because I'm so used to waking up early (Thanks, Pigtails!) I can't seem to sleep in.

I really had a good time going out with the girls.  Fierce and Fedora are so much fun, although getting ready to go out was always quite the process.  Fierce (my most fashionable friend) brought an entire wardrobe of clothing.  She says she's never sure what she'll feel like wearing so she brings it all (just in case).  She usually changes about 5 times before going out.

Fedora (my singer ex-model friend), who decided to borrow clothes from Fierce (who's only 7 inches shorter than she is), debuted like 8 different outfits before deciding on what to wear.  First, it's difficult to convince Fedora the clothes actually fit (they do!).  Then it's difficult to convince her she looks good (she does!).  It didn't help that she only brought one pair of shoes (brown clogs) to go out in.  But eventually we'd get out (even if it meant eating a steak dinner at 10:30pm!).

And me?  I changed twice.  Normally I change more, but it's not so hard when you're on a 30 for 30 remix.  But I'll tell you what is hard.  NOT SHOPPING.  We went to the mall and I saw all sorts of fabulous shoes at Charlotte Russe.  I wanted them all.  But I settled for watching Fierce buy some (She wears the same size as I do!) and got some fluorescent yellow nail polish!

#27 - SEDONA
MADRAS SKIRT - CAbi
PURPLE TANK TOP - Bebe
BLACK CARDIGAN - Motherhood
BLACK STUD HEELED CLOGS - Forever 21
NECKLACE - my Grandmother's collection
WHITE WATCH - Sprout

#28 - PORTLAND
CHAMBRAY SHIRT - American Eagle
DENIM SHORTS - Forever 21
BLACK VEST - CAbi
OPEN TOE BOOTS - Charlotte Russe
FLOWER PIN - Made by my Mom

Overall it was a fantastic getaway.  But I did really miss Princess Sparkles, Pigtails and Camouflage.  I came home to lots of hugs and snuggles with the girls.  I also took a nap.  Camo set up our new king bed!  So now it's like a vacation in our own bedroom!  Guess I can have that vacation from my vacation after all.

Didn't realize you went on a vaca! Can't remember the last time I've had a girls weekend getaway. It will be exciting when it happens again! In the meantime, I will enjoy my boys following me around everywhere too...yes, even in the bathroom!

I love your Portland outfit...how do you come up with the names of your outfits by the way?

Totally agree with needing a vacation from vacation. I also find there is so much to do with unpacking and laundry etc when you get home.
Your outfits are very cute. OK, I am sorry but friends that take forever to get ready drive me insane. I only went on one trip with a group of girls that were my friend's friends and they were like that. Just the way you described bringing way too many clothes with no idea on what to wear. I wanted to shoot myself. Despite my blog and outfits it literally takes me 15 minutes tops to get ready during the day and may be 30 minutes top to get ready for a night outing with hair and make-up. And when I travel I always pack outfits so there is no deciding and changing. Thank goodness all my current friends are very fast so we can spend the fun time going out and not at a hotel room. :)
Sounds like a fun trip though. Glad you got to get away.

I love that photo of the windmills. When I drive through it's before dawn and I can never get a shot like that. Sounds like you have a lot of fun and that your friends are as fashionable as you are :)Great outfits and I can't believe your 30 for 30 is almost done. It's really inspiring.

ahh! I loooove the Palm Springs windmills! I was just there :) both looks are adorable! I especially love the shorts with the vest and button-up, it's like a modern take on menswear with a touch of femininity. I love it :)

Love that skirt from the first look. It is so colorful and cute.

I always feel the same way after a vacation. We do so much and see so much that I am always in need of some rest and relaxation after I get home.

Not shopping IS hard, I agree! I love both looks but I think Portland is my favorite. I love mix of denims and that cute vest!

You look great and I am loving your story about Fierce and Fedora- made me giggle out loud! When I was doing the remix I would buy nail polish to satisfy my shopping withdrawals but by about day 20 I caved and went thrifting- oopsie! P.S. How I would love you to be my personal shopper in LA!
