4th of July Outfit, Feather Print Shorts and Cheese

"Cheeeeeeese!!!"
Bucket says when I pull out my camera.
He loves to turn on the charm.
He also loves Pigtails' silver glitter ballet flats.
Who can blame him.

NAVY & RED STRIPED PEPLUM - Urban Outfitters
WHITE DENIM SHORTS - Gap
BRACELET - J Crew (gifted)
AQUA WEDGES - Target (thrifted)

FEATHER PRINT CUT-OFFS - Jessica Simpson (via Macys)
LIGHT CHAMBRAY SHIRT - American Eagle

Here are a few looks from the week.  The first outfit I put together in anticipation of "4th of July."  The top I got for $10 at Urban Outfitters.  I asked Princess Sparkles if I should wear chestnut wedges or aqua ones and she said the aqua ones were more interesting.  The second outfit includes a pair of feather print cut offs I got at Macys for $6.  I love wearing booties with shorts!  Linking both of these outfits up to "Inspiration Monday" from Two Birds.

Cheeeeeeeeese!!!

I was excited to find a way to change up the typical patriotic outfit.  I love an unexpected twist - like mixing "interesting" aqua wedges with red, white and blue, or a baby boy flashing a cheesy smile in some silver glitter ballet flats.

Neon, Stripes, Light Wash Denim and a Big Sister

"You're not my mom anymore,"
Princess Sparkles informed me.
I felt a little sad until she explained,
"You're my big sister because you're not that old."

PURPLE AND YELLOW STRIPED TOP - Loft
LAVENDER CUT OFFS - Hot Kiss (via Marshalls)
SPIKED EARRINGS - 99 Cent Depot
YELLOW KHAKI WEDGES - Old Navy

MULTI-PRINT DRESS - Scrapbook
DENIM JACKET - Free People
MINT FEDORA - Eugenia Kim for Target
BLACK WEDGE BOOTIES - Target

Here are a few outfits from the week.  I've been wearing shorts a lot since it's been hot.  I have a handful of colorful cut offs I like wearing.  I was excited when this striped top I got on clearance at the Loft for $10 matched with my purple shorts.  I'm linking this up to "Inspiration Monday" from Two Birds.  The second outfit I wore to Princess Sparkles' kindergarten promotion.  I paired it with the light wash denim jacket I got from Loehmanns and a fedora from Target.

Sparkles models her creative head piece.

I love wearing cut offs.  But now that I'm a mom, I worry if it's okay for me to still wear my short shorts.  I don't want to be inappropriate or the mom who wears things she probably shouldn't.  At least Sparkles thinks I'm not that old... yet.

Embroidered Jeans, Joe's Erin Open Toe Booties and a "Cough"

"Daddy, I'm coughing all the time, I need to go to the dentist,"
Pigtails said to Camouflage very seriously.
"Well you weren't coughing before I told you to go to bed,"
Camouflage replied, shuffling her back to her room.
She stopped to look at him,"Yes I was."
Then she added two fake coughs.
*Cough* *Cough*

CROCHET DRESS - Jovovich Hawk for Target

The embroidered jeans I recently picked up at Urban Outfitters on the sale racks.  I was excited that they were only $20 and were ankle length.  I went with a plain white tee and added red wedges I got on clearance from Target.  The jacket is an oldie but goodie.  The dress is another oldie but goodie I picked up a few years back from the Jovovich Hawk collection at Target.  I paired it with some fun open toe booties I got at Loehmanns (on clearance of course).  I'm linking the first outfit up with "Inspiration Monday" from Two Birds.

The Pirate Princess in her signature rainbow leggings pre-"cough."

Jeans and t-shirts are one of my favorite go-to outfits.  And with the endless choices - printed, colorful, embroidered, skinny, high waist - you can really add a creative touch.  In fact, I could really use a cute pair of striped skinny jeans.  *Cough* *Cough*

Kate Young for Target Blazer, Suede Maxi Skirt and Some Cleaning

"[Pigtails] cleaned the room all by herself,"
Princess Sparkles exclaimed.
"And I paid her money!!!"
She said as she handed her excited little sister a nickel.
"Tomorrow I'm gonna have her do lots more chores."
That sounds good to me!

BLACK AND WHITE STRIPED TOP - Foreign Exchange
BLACK CROP BLAZER - Kate Young for Target

EARRINGS - gift exchange from Polly of Polly's Boudoir
BLACK NECKLACE - iSanctuary
ANNIVERSARY RING - c/o Anjolee

SPINNING THREADS T-SHIRTS (on Pigtails & Sparkles) - c/o TShirtPrinting.org

BROWN IKAT TOP - Old Navy
BLACK SUEDE MAXI SKIRT - Thrifted (Thanks, Mom!)
WRAP BRACELET, PURSE - Heavenly Treasures
TURQUOISE EARRINGS - Vintage from my mom
AQUA WEDGES - Target (thrifted)

Here are some recent outfits.  The striped tank is from Foreign Exchange.  It buttons in back (Sparkles: "You're wearing your shirt backwards", Camouflage: "You're out!  Foul!").  The blazer is Kate Young for Target which I found on clearance.  The second outfit is a thrifted suede skirt with thrifted wedges.  I was in a "tribal" mood.  I'm linking both of these with "Inspiration Monday" from Two Birds.  The first for the stripes and denim, the second for the maxi skirt!

I also wanted to thank TShirtPrinting.Org for hooking my girls up with Spinning Threads shirts.  Recently I won a printed tee from Mary Jo's blog "Trust Your Style" and when they contacted me I asked about buying an additional shirt so each of my girls could have one and they offered to do it for free!  They do all sorts of t-shirt printing so if you're in need of some then go check 'em out!

A printed tee is definitely a closet staple.  It's comfy and a fun way to show off some personality.  Because although I love getting dressed up in skirts and a blazer, when I'm at home I'm probably cleaning and wearing a t-shirt and pajama pants.

Red Prabal Gurung for Target Dress and a Sign

"Do NOT do this!"
Princess Sparkles wrote on a sign for Bucket.
Bucket recently hurt his thumb after playing with canned food.
Camouflage asked Sparkles to make sure her brother didn't go into the pantry.
She obliged by creating her sign and taping it to the door.
Of course Bucket completely disregarded it.

RED DRESS - Prabal Gurung for Target (thrifted)
BROWN AND BLACK BELT - Tory Burch (thrifted)
EARRINGS - Heavenly Treasures
BRACELETS - iSancturary
NUDE CAGE HEELS - Kelsi Dagger

LEATHER ORANGE BELT - Dimensions (thrifted)
NECKLACE - M Haskell via Ross
RED PURSE - B Makowsky
BRACELET - iSanctuary
WATCH - Michael Kors

Here are a few outfits from the week.  I recently bought this Prabal Gurung for Target dress at Goodwill for half off.  I decided I'd pair it with a Tory Burch belt my mom, Fair Isle, thrifted for me and some nude cage heels I found on clearance for $11.  I was trying to be unexpected by not wearing black accessories.  I also wore white skinnies and a black t-shirt.  Trying to make it interesting I paired it with a thrifted orange belt and necklace Fair Isle and Henley bought me for Mother's Day.

Bucket eats berries with his injured thumb :(

A belt is the ultimate "supporting" accessory.  It's never the "star" of an outfit, but without it the look would not be complete.  Not only does it make everything look fabulous, it's also functional.  So even if you think no one can see it, do NOT disregard the belt.
