Tribal Print Mullet Skirt and a Good Driver

"Close one, Momma."
Pigtails said when I hit the brakes of the car as an ambulance sped by.
Then when a song came on the radio she told me,
"Not that one!"
Maybe I should let her drive next time.

TRIBAL PRINT MULLET SKIRT - Target, $6
BLACK CARDIGAN - Motherhood Maternity
ROSE TANK - Zoe Clothing Company
TRIBAL NECKLACE - African via Heavenly Treasures
SNAKE PRINT WEDGES - Rebels (via Loehmanns), $35
GRAY STUDDED HANDBAG - Banana Republic (thrifted), $3.50

This is a fabulous high-low mullet skirts I got from Target online for $6.  I decided to mix prints with the snakeskin wedges.  The tank is by Zoe Clothing Co, who is an awesome Christian t-shirt company that I really love.  The necklace is African and I bought it from Heavenly Treasures.  My mom, Fair Isle, thrifted this gorgeous gray handbag for a few bucks.  It's all leather and has great little details.

Pigtails drives a scooter in the park

Whenever I think I've gotten an amazing deal, Fair Isle comes up with something even more gorgeous for even cheaper!  But I'm so lucky because often times I'm the recipient of the treasure.  When it comes to thrifting, my mom is definitely in the driver's seat!

Lavender Flying Monkey Jeans, Fringe Necklace

"Baby I love you too much.  Baby you are so little.
Baby... I... Love... You.  Yeah"
Princess Sparkles loves to sing
especially to her little brother, Bucket.
She makes up songs and performs them.
Sometimes to the piano,
or an imaginary audience in our backyard.

LAVENDER SKINNY JEANS - Flying Monkey (via Anonymous LA)
NUDE TANK - Bebe
CARDIGAN - Loft
RED PURSE - B Makowsky
STRIPED WEDGES - Payless
NECKLACE - Made by my Mom

I really love my colorful skinny jeans, and after buying different brands I have to say my favorites are these Flying Monkey ones.  They have just the right amount of stretch and always seem to have gorgeous colors like these lavender ones (I also have mint green, turquoise and black ones!).  I decided to keep everything else in neutral tones and wear this fabulous statement necklace my mom, Fair Isle, made me for my birthday.

I'm so thrilled Fair Isle likes to make jewelry and even more thrilled that I get to be the receiver of this jewelry.  This is one of a kind with real leather fringe and lots of different beads.  It makes a simple outfit look really put together.  Thanks so much, mom!  "I... Love... You.  Yeah!"

A Sweatshirt, Skirt and a Gummy Bear

Pigtails had her first "haircut" recently.
She was running around when I felt something in her hair.
I thought it was a rubberband so I left it.
Later we were at a friend's house and she took a closer look.
We found an unexpected surprise...
A gummy bear matted in her hair.
And it had to be cut out.
I almost saved it for her baby book...

Monday's Inspiration - Gwyneth Paltrow

Monday's Inspiration from Two Birds is Gwyneth Paltrow in a sweatshirt, skirt and boots.  I was excited to put together this casual look, especially since I recently got this super soft Alternative Apparel sweatshirt from Anonymous LA.  I thought it'd be fun to dress up the sweatshirt with a big necklace I got from my friend, Fancy, in a clothing swap.  My legs aren't nearly as long as Gwyneth's so I went with my Jeffrey Campbells.

Pigtails gets her first "haircut"

I've always loved a soft comfy sweatshirt, though usually I wear it to workout or go to the park.  But there's something fun about wearing it with a skirt and boots.  It's just so unexpected!

My Caffeine - Old Navy Wedges!

"Don't forget your coffee!"
That's what Princess Sparkles yelled at me from the car today
(she likes to buckle herself in early and wait for the rest of us).
I forgot my coffee yesterday and I had a "grouchy day."
Not sure it was because I forgot my coffee,
but I guess she wasn't taking any chances.

NAVY FLOWY TOP - Ella Moss (thrifted)
PINK CAPRIS - Old Navy
ZEBRA CUFF - Made by my Mom
RED PURSE - B Makowsky (via Amazon)
MULTI-COLORED HEELS - Charlotte Russe

I got the inspiration for this outfit from the Charlotte Russe heels I got for my birthday last year. I figured the colors worked together so I wore them in an outfit. I got the navy blue top during a Goodwill thrift. It was a "sample" from Ella Moss. The pink capris were from last summer when Old Navy had their clearance. I kept seeing bloggers wearing them. I was pregnant at the time but liked them so much I bought them for less than $10!

Speaking of Old Navy, right now they're having a huge sale on all their wedges (cheaper in the store than online). I went a little crazy and bought "some." Don't worry, Camouflage, I'm actually going to return a few of them tomorrow (if you let me go shopping - hee hee).

Old Navy Wedges ($13-$16)

I was recently contacted by Nuvia Cafe about sampling their instant coffee. I thought I'd give it a try. I tend to like to grind my own beans, though I do have some instant on hand for the days I'm in a rush. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised how tasty it was. It has this nice hint of fruit in it (thanks African mango seed and pomegranate) and it is 100% organic. It also has ganoderma in it, which is a mushroom that many Asians use for it's therapeutic benefits. Check out their website for more information and to order!

I didn't quite realize how many shoes I grabbed until I saw them in that picture (and all for less than $100). But that's how a busy mom of 3 shops. You buy what you can when you can, you try it on at home, then you go back to return what you don't like later. And since shopping is my caffeine, I guess it made up for the coffee I missed!!!

Floral Top, Blue Cut-Offs and Jokes

"Do your jokes again, baby!"
Bucket just started laughing this week.
It's always one of my favorite new things they learn.
Princess Sparkles was the first to hear it.
And now everytime she sees him she tells him to do his "jokes."

FLORAL TOP - H&M, $13
BLUE CUT-OFFS - Nordstrom Rack, $7
PINK LEATHER CUFF - Made by my mom
LEATHER HANDBAG - Cynthia Rowley (thrifted), $10
BLACK STUDDED HEELS - Forever 21 (thrifted and gifted)

Here's what I wore on Mother's Day.  I actually started out with bright green skinny jeans, but it got hot and I changed into these blue cut-offs I got from Nordstrom Rack for $7!  I paired it with some studded black heels my mom, Fair Isle, thrifted for me and this Cynthia Rowley bag I thrifted for myself for $10 (Happy Mother's Day to me!!!).  The floral shirt is from H&M.  I actually wanted the floral pants that every other blogger has been rockin' but they didn't have them so I settled for the shirt.  I have to admit, it matches with everything.

Bucket entertains his sisters with "jokes" and costumes

I celebrated Mother's Day early last week with a day of thrifting.  Pigtails and Princess Sparkles went to Disneyland with my cousin, Animal Print, and her girlfriend.  It was like the pre-kid days and Fair Isle and I went from Goodwill to Goodwill.  We didn't even stop to eat, because as much as I love to eat, I love shopping even more.  I got a pair of boots, that Cynthia Rowley bag, and a few pairs of shorts.  It brought true laughter to my day!

Pattern Mixing - Stripes and Florals

"Who do you look like?  Mommy?  Daddy?  Grandma?"
I asked Pigtails the other day who she resembled as we looked in the mirror.
Pigtails looked at me, then smiled and said, "Pigtails!"
She's right.  She looks like herself.

Monday's Inspiration - Reese Witherspoon
STRIPED DRESS - Libertine for Target, $17
NAVY VEST - Target, $6
RED SKINNY BELT - Forever 21
FLORAL WEDGES - Chinese Laundry (thrifted), $9

Today's "Inspiration Monday" from Two Birds is a pregnant Reese Witherspoon.  I love stripes and was thrilled to whip out the blue and green dress I got from Libertine for Target the second time it came around.  I even waited and got it on clearance for $17 (not quite as cheap as the other ones I got for $10, but I didn't want to miss this one!).  I paired it with a blue vest instead of a sweater since it's been really warm here.  The floral wedges are ones I thrifted new at GW.

Pigtails looking like herself in mixed prints and rain boots

I love doing "Inspiration Monday" because it's fun to use someone else's outfit as inspiration and I don't have to think too hard.  And although it would be nice to have the closets these celebrities have, it's fun to work with the thrifted and inexpensive pieces I have.  It keeps me looking like myself!

Flying Monkey Skinny Jeans, Tribal Inspired Jewelry and a Dance Recital

Princess Sparkles had her first dance performance
at an outdoor theater this past weekend.
The family had a picnic while we watched the show.
Sparkles had a costume with sequins, her hair in a bun.
And she was especially excited to wear make-up and get flowers.

FLUTTER TOP - Tramp (via Loehmanns), $8
BLACK SKINNIES - Flying Monkey (via Anonymous)
CAGE HEELS - Kelsi Dagger (via Loehmanns), $11
INDIAN CUFF - Heavenly Treasures
NECKLACE - Made by my mom

Monday's Inspiration - Carrie Underwood

I know it's Tuesday but here's my "Inspiration Monday" from Two Birds.  I wore black Flying Monkey skinnies from Anonymous.  I love them so much.  They are form fitting and flattering yet comfy.  The top and the shoes I got on the clearance rack at Loehmanns.  As for the jewelry, my mom, Fair Isle, has been making a lot of tribal inspired necklaces.  This is one of the pieces she let me borrow.

The girls dress up in dance attire.

Lately other moms have been so kindly complimenting me on my appearance.  They're impressed that I have 3 kids and still dress up.  Honestly it's the blog that keeps me accountable.  And although I'm tired, like Princess Sparkles, I get a thrill out of getting dressed up and wearing make-up!

Bird Shirt and A Closet Sleeper

Bucket is growing up.
Last week he started rolling over.
We also started "sleep training,"
which basically means we let him cry it out.
It's sad to hear him cry, but he sleeps so much better.
Some nights we even put his bassinet in my closet.
Luckily it's a big closet.

BIRD SHIRT - H&M, $13
OLIVE SKINNIES - Old Navy, $16
ZEBRA CUFF - Made by my mom
WEDGES - Marc Fisher (thrifted), $4

I've been wanting a bird shirt for a while now.  I don't really even like birds, but for some reason I find them charming on a top.  I was going to pair it with a pair of bright skinnies, but decided instead to wear it with my olive ones instead.  I also wore these colorful Marc Fisher wedges I thrifted at Goodwill.  They were new and 50% off!

Bucket takes a nap

I've been trying to reorganize my closet now that I've purged myself of the maternity clothes and brought out my spring favorites!  In fact I wouldn't mind sleeping in my closet.  That way I could fall asleep with my clothes and dream of cute outfits.
