My Super Bowl Sunday

I've spent the last few days in a gown...
No, not a ball gown, a hospital one.
It was like a vacation having one baby, lying in bed and eating meals,
but it was also a little like being in prison (since I couldn't leave the 3rd floor).

SHEARLING VEST - Bernardo (via Loehmanns)
BLUE MATERNITY SHIRT - Pea in the Pod
BLACK DENIM LEGGINGS - Hue
BLACK BOOTS - BCBGeneration

Here's the "Inspiration Monday" outfit I wore on Saturday (my last "maternity" one maybe ever!). We went to Target, I cleaned up the spare bedroom, then ate a huge bowl of frozen yogurt. Afterwards I felt a little guilty so I did some push-ups, light weights and squats. Camouflage teased me that I was going to make the baby come out.  Oops...

It's a BOY!!!

Baby "Bucket" (nickname c/o Princess Sparkles)
Born at 5:22am on February 5, 2012
(sorry Frannie, he didn't quite make it to your birthday)

I'm going to be a little busy but I promise I'll be back soon to check out what everyone else is up to!  Hope you all had an exciting Super Bowl Sunday too!!!

Layers: Long Over Long and "Quiet" TV Time

"Does anyone know where the TV remote is?"
I asked but didn't expect the girls to know.
"Momma, come he-ya, come he-ya,"
Pigtails shouted as she ran to my bedroom.
Guess the girl was desperate to watch a show...
(please don't judge, my girls have actually learned stuff
AND it's kept me from going completely insane).

STRIPED SKIRT - Old Navy, $15
BROWN TOP - Gap Maternity (hand-me-down)
NAVY CARDIGAN - Express, $15
ANIMAL PRINT NECKLACE - Cynde Daniels
NUDE BALLET FLATS - Me Too, $8 (thrifted)

Today I'm linking up to "Fashion Challenge: Layer Up," hosted by Megan Mae Daily and Casual Chic Kiki.  They always come up with something really creative!  This is actually tomorrow's challenge, "long over long" (today was "cropped over long" but the cropped wasn't looking great with my pregnant belly hanging out), so I decided to go with a maxi skirt from Old Navy and a long cardigan.  I also wore a long necklace for extra credit.  The Me Too flats are leather and a thrifted treasure I got from GW!

My TV junkies having some "quiet time" at Fair Isle's house

I've had a long day and it's still early!  Princess Sparkles had a dentist appointment that didn't go so well (and I cried in front of everyone - seriously embarrassing).  Then Pigtails decided to take off her own poopy diaper...again.  Maybe I'm just pregnant and tired.  Really tired.  I think I need to throw on some sweats, turn on the TV and veg myself!

Flower Head Bands and My Blog Turns 1!

Pigtails loves a head band.
Mostly because her sister loves a head band.
Sometimes she'll wear it in her hair, just like Princess Sparkles.
But other times she'll do her own thing and wear it...differently.
She's always surprising me with her creativity.
I think she might be a fashion genius.
(I'm not biased or anything)

BLACK AND WHITE DRESS - Motherhood Maternity (thrifted), $2.50
BLACK CARDIGAN - Motherhood Maternity, $15
BOW EARRINGS - Gifted from Polly (a blog friend from Bulgaria)
BLACK BOOTIES - Madden Girl (thrifted), $10

Today began my 38th week of pregnancy.  I can't believe it!  I'm also proud to say after I wore this black and white one, I've now worn every single maternity dress I own (and I have a lot of them!).  There are a few pants and skirts I haven't worn yet, but hey, I have two more weeks...maybe.  I also wore these cute bow earrings that I received from my "Secret Santa," Polly, who lives in Bulgaria and has a wonderfully stylish blog, Polly's Boudoir!

My "fashion genius" models a tutu of flower head bands.

A few days ago my blog turned 1!  I can't believe it's been a year since I started.  So much has happened over the last year.  Not only has my style evolved but I've gotten pregnant and figured out what I like to blog about (fashion and my kids!).  I've also made some amazing blog friends!  Thank you for being part of the journey!  I may not be a "fashion genius" but I have really enjoyed doing this blog!

Red Dresses and A "Big" Surprise

Princess Sparkles loves to drink out of my cups.
If I leave water on a table I often find an empty glass in it's place.
I always tell Sparkles to ask me first, it's polite.
Tonight I was in the kitchen when I heard this hacking and spitting.
Then Princess Sparkles ran in with a horrified look on her face.
She drank from a glass on the table, but it wasn't water but an "adult beverage" Camo was consuming.
Maybe next time she'll remember to ask...

Princess Sparkles (and Mommy) in Red
RED DRESS - Motherhood Maternity
BLACK SWEATER - Express
FAUX LEATHER/FUR VEST - Target
BOOTIES - Forever 21
Here is the outfits Princess Sparkles and I wore to church this past month.  Sparkles wore her "Santa" dress and I decided I would layer up the red dress I wear every holiday that I've been pregnant (which has been now quite a few!).  The Target vest I bought a few years ago because I liked it's 70's look.  Now it's so in!!!

I've really enjoyed the restful holiday.  It's been a nice break having my sister, Polka Dots, and Camo around to help out with the girls.  Normally I enjoy returning to our "routine" but with a new baby on the way (6 weeks to go!) I can only expect the unexpected...like finding beer in a glass you think is water!

Fair Isle Sweater, Fringe Boots and a Bucket

"Can we name the baby Bucket?"
That was the latest name suggestion from Princess Sparkles
She loves to make up unusual names for the baby (i.e. Nook-Nook or Ula).
She puts her hand on my belly and squeals with excitement when the baby kicks.
Pigtails likes to ram her head into the baby and use my belly as her pillow.

FAIR ISLE CARDIGAN - Sweet Romeo via Loehmanns
GRAY SHIRT - Motherhood Maternity
BLACK LEGGINGS - Old Navy
BRACELET - Forever 21
FRINGE BOOTS - Forever 21

This cozy sweater is another early Christmas present my sister, Polka Dots, bought me from Loehmanns on Black Friday.  I really love fair isle!  I'm also obsessed with fringe and so glad I bought these boots last year at Forever 21.

Princess Sparkles:  "I know, we'll call him Bucket!"

I always find it best to purchase any and every shoe you might like at F21 because if you don't, they either run out of your size or you'll never see it again.  And there's nothing worse than shoe regret... Except maybe being 8 months pregnant and having someone sit on your belly.

Thrifted Goods, Blog Wins and Stretch Marks

PATTERNED DRESS - Bisou Bisou (Thrifted)
OLIVE MILITARY JACKET - Nordstrom
WOODEN BRACELET - Heavenly Treasures
BROWN WEDGES - Steve Madden
BRONZE PURSE - B Makowsky

A funny picture of my belly modeling my thrifted purse!

"This is my baby.  Want to see?"  Princess Sparkles loves to show everyone the baby.  It would be fine except that she loves to lift my shirt up so they can literally see my belly - stretch marks, and all.  I wouldn't even want people checking out my belly if I had rock hard tanned abs!  And after having two kids already, it's like a balloon that keeps getting stretched!

This is the outfit I wore to Cardigan's tea party baby shower on Sunday. The dress is thrifted, thanks to my my mom, Fair Isle and I found the bronze B Makowsky purse at GW for $8!!! I couldn't believe it. It normally retails for $150. I couldn't believe what a steal it was! The military jacket is like a glorified sweatshirt. I got it at Nordstrom a few years ago, and it's very comfortable.

Princess Sparkles: "Want to see the baby?"

I wanted to give a couple big THANK YOUs to a few blog friends who have recently (and randomly) chosen me as a winner of their giveaways!  I won a fun funky purple skull purse from Siren via the Cat Hag, a $50 gift card to the Limited from H&K Style Journey, and a scrapbooking kit from Unladylike.  Seriously, I never win anything, but I'm super lucky when it comes to some of these blog giveaways (and I'm extremely thankful too!).

Finding some great deals (either on the clearance racks of Target and Old Navy, or at the local thrift store) really makes my week enjoyable.  But still, nothing beats winning a blog giveaway (except winning 3!).  It almost makes me forget about all those stretch marks!  Almost...

Baby Predictions from the Donut Shop Lady

LEOPARD PRINT TOP - Old Navy
WHITE MATERNITY JEANS - James Jeans
BLACK MARY JANE HEELS - Dr. Scholls
FEATHER TRIM WOOL CLOCHE - Forever 21 (exact)
LIGHT BLUE PYRAMID BRACELET - T&J Designs via Monday Mingle Giveaway (exact)

A while ago I went to a donut shop with Camouflage and the girls.  The woman behind the counter looked at me and asked, "How many months?"  I embellished slightly and rounded up a month.  She examined me, "boy or girl?"  I didn't know yet but asked her what she thought (I'm half Chinese and Chinese people always seem to know these things).  She looked at me then touched my belly.  "Probably a girl.  Because you're wide in the back area."  She extended her arms out.  Then to slightly make it not as insulting she said, "but maybe it's the dress."

Here's the dress I was wearing to the Donut Shop:
TRIBAL PRINT DRESS - Heavenly Treasures

I recently joined the "Fashion Challenge" hosted by Megan Mae Daily and Casual Chic Kiki.  I always love their challenges, and today was snake or leopard.  I decided to wear the new top I got at Old Navy for $9.  I had seen my blog friends at [oomph.] and Find Your Fashion Steal My Style wearing this top and knew I had to have it.  I desperately tried NOT to copy their versions so I went with these white maternity jeans and my Forever 21 cloche.  I'm in love with the feathers!  To round it out I wore this T+J Designs bracelet I won from Monday Mingle!  Isn't it lovely?!!!

Anyway, besides being $9, the thing that sold me on this leopard top was it was NOT maternity and it fit well (meaning, I could button it).  I love the way it loosely hangs over the jeans and the print helps camouflage my belly.  In fact, I'm hoping that it I actually makes me look like I'm having a boy when I wear this top!

A New Maternity Dress, Booties and an Award

COWL NECK MATERNITY DRESS - Liz Lange for Target
DENIM BELT - Style Xpress
BRACELETS - Cara, Jewelry Party
EARRINGS - Downtown LA Fashion District
WEDGE BOOTIES - Jeffrey Campbell

Today was Pigtails' first day at Moms Day Out without her sister.  It went smoothly.  Perhaps it's a 2nd child thing, though I think she didn't realize I was actually leaving her there.  We'll see what happens next week when she knows what to expect.  The only crying incident was when another Asian American mom came to pick up her daughter.  Pigtails also did this at another class with a different Asian American mom.  I'm not sure if Asian American moms remind Pigtails of me or she actually thinks these women are me (I'm hoping for the former).

I'm so glad I've finally shared with you all about my pregnancy because I can actually wear and post maternity clothes pictures.  I found this dress at Target a few weeks back in the clearance section.  I'm trying to be good about NOT buying maternity stuff (yeah, right) but this was only $7 so I couldn't help myself.
I also wanted to thank a few bloggers who awarded me the "One Lovely Blog Award" a few weeks back.  Jess at Avant-Garde Living, Aki at 7% Solution and Florence from Fantail Flo have so kindly thought of me.  I decided I'd use the opportunity to finally give you all 7 FACTS ABOUT MY PREGNANCY...

1.  I'm in my 18th week of pregnancy.
2.  The baby is due February 10, 2012 (The girls will be almost 2 and 4-1/2)
3.  I discovered I was pregnant because my clothes felt tight, food I liked grossed me out and I was so tired.
4.  I took 3 pregnancy tests.  The 1st was expired.  The 2nd seemed "light."  The 3rd was in the morning.
5.  I've always wanted 3 kids though this one wasn't exactly "planned."
6.  I'm carrying lower than I did with the other two (possibly because I've lost all muscles in my abs)
7.  I told Camouflage in June by saying, "Happy Father's Day.  You're gonna be a father...again."

Anyway, it's so nice to be recognized by other bloggers.  I really appreciate everyone for reading, commenting and encouraging me on my blog, especially about this new baby!  It makes me feel special, unlike when my daugher gets me confused with other moms :)
