Houndstooth Skinny Jeans and That Boy

"Happy Birthday to [Camouflage],"
Pigtails sang to her daddy.
We all laughed and I asked her, "Who is [Camouflage]?"
Pointing to him she said, "that boy."
"He's not a boy," shouted Princess Sparkles from across the room.
"He's a man... Or a dude."

HOUNDSTOOTH SKINNIES - TJ Maxx, $17
GRAY CARDIGAN - Target, $15
BLACK TANK - Swapped
WEDGE BOOTS - Target, $30

Monday's Inspiration

This weeks "Inspiration Monday" from Two Birds' blog is an actress from one of my fave shows, Revenge.  I didn't have a peplum (sadly) and I wasn't feeling the blue jeans so instead I wore my houndstooth skinnies I got for cheap at TJ Maxx and a black tank I got in a clothing swap.

A boy and his dude.

I'm really loving my printed jeans and houndstooth is always a fun design!  It's super versatile and almost everyone can wear it.  That includes boys... or dudes.

Brown Maxi Dress and a Trip to Hawaii

"I want water!"
Pigtails demanded as we lined up for the wedding ceremony.
I told her I would get it as soon as she went down the aisle.
Princess Sparkles began walking...alone.
"The flower girl is running away!"
Camouflage overheard a wedding guest say.
"That must be her mother."
Everyone turned to see me running across the grass after her.  Sigh.

BROWN MAXI DRESS - thrifted
PURPLE FRINGE HEELS - Steve Madden (thrifted)
LEATHER CUFF - made by my mom

This is the thrifted maxi dress I wore to the wedding.  It has a 70's vibe and allowed for me to eat as much as I wanted at the Hawaiian buffet.  Purple sweet potatoes, kahlua pork, mochiko chicken... YUM!!!

In the end the wedding went well.  The girls had fun at the reception.  Princess Sparkles danced a lot and Pigtails enjoyed sitting in between the bride and groom (yes, she asked the groom to move so she could squeeze in next to my cousin).

The trip to Hawaii was packed with fun... beautiful beaches, swimming pools, water slides, shave ice, sea turtles, pineapples, and family!  Of course nothing went as planned (i.e. the wedding ceremony), but in the end everything turned out just right.

Missoni for Target Dress, Mustard Leather and Mud Wrestlers

"I all muddy!"
Pigtails yelled from outside.
That's never something a parent wants to hear.
There are many things I love about the rain, but mud isn't one of them.
Especially when my children decide to "take a mud bath" or "play golf" in it.

SLEEVLESS SWEATER DRESS - Missoni for Target (thrifted), $8
MUSTARD FAUX LEATHER JACKET - Papaya, $30
BROWN BOOTIES - Jessica Simpson (thrifted), $14
MIXED METAL CUFF - Heavenly Treasures

Monday's Inspiration - Pippa Middleton
Today's "Inspiration Monday" from the lovely sisters at Two Birds is Pippa Middleton.  I decided to wear my own version of this to church on Sunday.  The Missoni for Target dress is one I got after the madness at a local Goodwill for $8!!!  The Jessica Simpson booties are also from Goodwill, a steal for $14.  And finally that mustard faux leather jacket is from Papaya.

Camouflage hoses down our mud wrestlers

Tomorrow we are off to Hawaii to visit my sister and attend my cousin's wedding.  Princess Sparkles and Pigtails are flower girls.  I love Hawaii.  It's one place I definitely don't mind the rain (or the mud for that matter).

Neon Fringe Necklace and Getting My Way

"When I get older I'm eating too much candy,"
Princess Sparkles said after I told her she couldn't have a treat.
"And I'm not getting sick or going to the doctor."
Wouldn't that be nice.
Princess Sparkles is learning how we don't always get our way.
What she doesn't know is that it still happens even when we're older.
But I'll let her figure that one out on her own.

SILVER FLATS - Ashley Scott (thrifted)
BROWN BAG - Helen Kaminski (thrifted)
NEON FRINGE NECKLACE - PopJunkLove

Even though it's October, it's been a tad warm around here.  So I've been wearing summer outfits in fall colors.  I decided to brighten up this particular outfit with this amazing fringe necklace I got from Roma at Pop Junk Love.   She is so awesome!   I've been following her journey through her blog (she quit her steady job to do wonderful crafts like this necklace, and she even donates money back to needy kids!). Seriously, check her out her out at Pop Junk Love!

"I want candy!"

Lately I've only had a chance to blog about once a week.  It's just been so busy juggling everyone's schedules.  But if I had my way I'd be blogging and shopping everyday and my kids would do everything I asked!

Thakoon for Target, Kessa Ankle Boot and a Shoe Lover

"Ooohhh, I want those!"
Pigtails said, pointing to a pair of sneakers.
Normally I'd say no, but I had just grabbed a pair of wedge booties
and it seemed wrong to get me something and deny her a pair of shoes.
And I felt bad because she never gets anything new since she's the second child.

Monday's Inspiration - Busy Phillips

SKIRT - Thakoon for Target (thrifted)
BLACK TANK - Alternative Apparel, via Karmaloop
BLACK BOOTIES - Mossimo Kessa Ankle Boot, via Target
EARRINGS - The Dollar Store

Today's "Inspiration Monday" from Two Birds is Busy Phillips which gave me the perfect excuse to whip out an old favorite, my thrifted Thakoon for Target skirt.  It paired perfectly with the new booties I got from Target.  I had been eyeing them in their ads and when I saw them on sale at the store I grabbed them!

Pigtails in her new kicks

I love my new black wedge booties.  They're edgy, versatile and surprisingly comfy.  I have a serious shoe fetish, especially with boots (and wedges, heels, sneakers, ballet flats...).  I just can't help myself.  I guess it must be genetic!
