Stars, Camouflage, Vests and a Grouch

"Mommy, what's going on with you?"
Pigtails asked me as I buckled her into the car.
I was having a stressful morning but had to stop and laugh.
"Sorry, mommy was being grouchy."
Pigtails smiled, cocked her head slightly and said,
"That's okay, mommy."

CAMOUFLAGE SHORTS - Old Navy (swapped)
WHITE VEST - Loehmanns

GRAY WEDGE BOOTS - Jeffrey Campbell

MAXI DRESS, NAVY VEST, WEDGES - Target
NECKLACE - made by my kiddos
BRACELET - swapped
ANNIVERSARY RING - c/o Anjolee

Here are a few outfits from the week.  The first is my Memorial Day inspired attire which I'm linking up with "Inspiration Monday" from Two Birds.  I got the star tank from Karmaloop for $8 and the shorts were swapped.  I wasn't sure how navy stars would pair with camouflage but I ended up really liking it.  The maxi dress was a Target clearance purchase from a few years back.

Obviously I'm wearing vests a lot.  For some reason I feel like they make my sleeveless outfits feel a little less revealing and sorta pull everything together.  And fashionwise, that's what's going on with me.

An Anniversary Ring and Lipstick

"I can't kiss you, you're a boy!"
Pigtails told her grandpa, Callaway, last night at dinner.
"I'm not a boy, I'm a grandpa," Camouflage's dad laughed.
"No, you're a grandpa and a boy."
"How do you know?" Callaway asked.
"Because you don't have lipstick," Pigtails informed him.
"But you don't have lipstick either."
"I know. But I'm a girl."

ANNIVERSARY RING - c/o Anjolee

Here are a few outfits from the week.  I was feeling like being comfy so I wore a t-shirt and skirt.  I needed a little color so I threw in the red wedges I recently found on clearance at Target.  I'm a huge fan of shorts and booties so I decided to wear my nude combat boots with something bright and girly.  The crochet vest was thrifted for me by my sister, Polka Dots.  I'm linking this second one with "Inspiration Monday" from Two Birds.

I recently received this gorgeous anniversary ring from Anjolee.  All of their pieces are custom made and can be tailored according to metal type, quality and size.   I personally love the simple, classic design of this one and was able to wear it with everything from skirt and heels to shorts and boots!  They also have diamond engagement rings which you can customize as well, so if you're in the market for one I definitely suggest you check them out!

And the winner of the Shabby Apple contest is...

Pigtails picks the Shabby Apple winner - Denise Angela!

Denise Angela from Silhouette de Femme!  Congratulations.

I've been really into accessories lately.  They're the key to dressing up simple outfits and with the hot weather I've been wearing a lot of those.  It's nice to be able to throw on a cute top, shorts with some fabulous accessories and run out the door.  Oh, and maybe a little lipstick too, just for that girly touch!

Brights, Floral Dr. Martens and Last Names

"I'm gonna name her Vicky,"
Princess Sparkles said as she held up a bug she decided to keep as a pet.
"I thought you named her Katy," I said.
"Well her first name is Katy and her last name is Vicky."
Princess Sparkles thought for a sec then...
"I know, her last name is Plant because she eats plants."
"Well is your last name, Spaghetti?" Camouflage asked from the kitchen.
"No.  But your last name should be Spicy Stuff and [Bucket] should be Yogurt!"

The bright colored outfit is what I wore for Mother's Day.  The dress is from a boutique in Fullerton and I paired it with the necklace Fair Isle and Henley bought me for Mother's Day.  Since the necklace had yellow in it, I decided to go all out and wear a yellow cardigan.  I wore the boots to offset the girliness.  The white dress, vest and docs I wore to a school performance Princess Sparkles had on Saturday.  Linking it up to "Inspiration Monday" from Two Birds.

For Mother's Day I told Camo I wanted to spend time shopping with my mom.  So Fair Isle and I went on a "road trip" to our favorite Goodwills.  Although we did eventually eat (after all the GWs closed), Fair Isle and I joked that we'd forgo eating for shopping.  I guess if Sparkles was to give me a last name it'd be Shopping!

Shake, Bam and a Shabby Apple Giveaway

Shake, shake.  Shake, shake.
Bam, bam.  Bam, bam.
I know Bucket is busy "entertaining" himself when I hear that.
Unfortunately I know it's probably with something he shouldn't be playing with.
Like canned food, serving bowls or the girls' toys.
I recently found him with some ibuprofen.
I don't know why they call the bottles "childproof."
Because with a little shake and a little bam, my 15 month old can open them.

GREEN SWEATER VEST - Made by my mom
YELLOW SANDALS - Cynthia Vincent for Target
BRACELET, EARRINGS - iSanctuary
BELT - Kenneth Cole (thrifted)
JEANS - 1921

JACKET, BLACK WEDGES - Old Navy
T-SHIRT - Alternative Apparel (via Anonymous)
STRIPED SKIRT - Target
SUNGLASSES - c/o Firmoo

Here are a few outfits from the week.  The other day I was having a "jeans and t-shirt" sort of day.  But not wanting to be boring I decided to throw on a vest.  I went with this asymmetric green one my mom knitted for me.  It kinda looks like seaweed but in a cool way.  The second outfit lacks color but was comfy.  Another t-shirt but this time with stripes and wedges.  I'm linking it up to "Inspiration Monday" from Two Birds.

Shabby Apple recently offered to do a giveaway for Spinning Threads.  Shabby Apple is an online dress boutique that specializes in vintage and retro dresses.  One lucky reader will get a $50 gift card to pick out a gorgeous vintage dress of their own.  If it was me, I'd choose this fabulous blue tutu (True Love Skirt) or this on-trend black and white striped dress (Mezzanine).

Here's what you have to do to enter:

Like Shabby Apple on Facebook
Follow Spinning Threads via GFC or Bloglovin'
(Extra Entry: Like Spinning Threads on Facebook and leave a separate comment)
Leave a comment telling me what you would get if you win!

Yup, it's that easy!  Contest ends May 19th.

What Bucket looks like when I take away his stuff (i.e. canned food, meds, etc.)

Usually during spring I'm in bright colors and wild patterns but for some reason I've been in a "neutrals" mood lately.  Maybe I need Bucket to give me a shake and a bam to put a little funk back in my fashion or maybe I could go buy me that tutu skirt from Shabby Apple!!!
