20 Minutes of Exercise

Before I had kids I was an exercise fanatic.  I would go to the gym almost 5 days a week, do spinning classes, jog, etc.  Even if I was going to play league softball or volleyball, I'd still exercise that morning because those "games" were just a bonus and didn't really count.

CUT TO:  2 kids later...

It's been really tough but my exercise routine is finally picking up again (I'm not sure why people think you can get your body back after a few months post baby because I think it takes at least a year and much MUCH more than breastfeeding!).  I try to run 4-1/2 miles every Tuesday/Thursday on the beach while Pigtails naps in the stroller, and sometimes I even squeeze in a Wednesday.  I also LOVE the ON DEMAND EXERCISE VIDEOS, because I can slip in a quick 20 minutes.

I have to say the hardest exercise for me to do is the AB WORKOUT.  Partially because I wonder how much good those sit-ups will really do since I refuse to give up carbs, dessert and beer.  Secondly, I'm not sure how, but I think Pigtails always knows when I'm working my abs and she LOVES to throw herself on top of me or yank at my legs.

Anyway, I'd like to commit to working out more consistently... even if it means I mostly do those 20 minute TV workouts.  My old self might've scoffed at my current workout routine, but my new self is thrilled because every little bit helps.

you look so pretty! i can't even imagine having kids and trying to squeeze in a workout- i have a hard time just with a full time job 30 minutes away from home. i should pick up running again, i kinda miss it!

Oh my gosh, good for you. It's so hard for me to find the motivation to exercise. I need someone yelling at me and at least 10 minutes to talk myself into it :)I love the extra energy that it gives me and the feeling of just being stronger once I get committed to it.
I love this outfit-black, white and red is always classic. Cute clogs BTW.

This is a gorgeous outfit! You look great! I love your style. Thanks for the comment on my blog. Guam is beautiful from what I can remember. I haven't visited since I moved in 1999.

P.S. I'm a new follower. :)

I think you look gorgeous - very chic and very relaxed.

My preferred form of exercise is Jazzercise, because it's hilarious, a little ridiculous and a very good workout, but I do the on demand workouts at time too.

Good for YOU! I find it so hard to get motivated to work out. Blech. Although, I really need to get in shape. :( I like to do Zumba classes....when I can talk myself into going to the gym. Ha.

LOVE your outfit!!

Hey, thanks for your comment on my post. I'm glad you did so I found your blog! We're pretty similar and have similar reasons for starting our blogs! I love your style, I totally agree with your comment that you need somewhere to wear your clothes-even if only for photos! I am now following your blog- are you on twitter? I am trying to get back into exercise but I could never have been described as a fanatic! lol. :)

Well you look incredible for having had 2 kids so don't stress about it too much! I find that exercise classes are the easiest way to workout - someone else tells you what to do and before you know it the hour's over. But seriously, you look fabulous!

Oh my goodness, I can totally relate to the exercise bit! And seriously, my Little Missy is almost 9 months old and I'm still trying to lose the last few pounds and tone up. Ugh TONE!! I remember when I used to have a sweet little six pack and nice toned muscles. *sigh* Maybe again one day... Anyways, thanks for stopping by my blog! I love your outfit! Very classy!

I don't lose weight nursing AT ALL. I envy the people that are all, "oh I just lost it breastfeeding and running after the baby". Whoah. Last time it took about 8 months after stopping nursing to get back into pre-pregnancy shape - we'll see this time. I'm finally getting back into a workout routine.

I really need to work out again...I did gymnastics for 13 years so that was a lot of exercise and conditioning and now I don't do it anymore so I'm losing my muscle...

Heh, I used to be an exercise fanatic, too...but then school got in the way and I stopped completely. I'm trying to ease myself back into it again by working out at least 30 minutes 5 days a week. I think if I had a nice beach to run on, I'd work out more. :) Where are you from?

I find it difficult to work in things even between work and keeping house. I'm glad that you are able to find time to do some things because something is never better than nothing.

first of all, you look beautiful. secondly, i think motherhood makes people have to be super flexible in how they approach exercise in general. as in, we have to get it in where we can, when we can, and not beat ourselves up too hard when all we could do is ride bikes to the park that day, you know? we just do what we can. ('cept for abs...i don't even attempt that. 18 gold stars for you.)

I totally hear you. I was the same way before kids and just recently after years later I had started to work out but got sick and got a few dr appts and missed my workouts. I hope to pick up next week. You have motivated me.
I think even the smalles effort counts. 20 minute is great. Hope you can keep it up. Think of ab workourts as giving you strenght than a washboard stomach which we might never get. But having stronger ab muscles will help you be stronger overall.

Two kids...wow! I don't work out at all, in fact, I'm so lazy. Pretty much sit all day. Maybe I should start a routine... ;)
