LENT and a 30 Day Remix

Today begins Lent and my fasting of all things shopping... okay, not all things, but any clothing slash shoes slash accessories, etc. I know, it's going to be hard, but I can do it (maybe if I keep telling myself that, then I'll start to believe it... right?).

I decided to help me get through this time by doing a 30 day remix (thanks, Kendi!). If you don't know what a remix is, you basically pick 30 items of clothing (shoes included, accessories are not), and turn them into 30 different outfits for 30 days! Cool, right?

I know, Lent is 40 days (actually 46, but you get Sundays off). So I plan to start Monday with my remix, though I've already stopped shopping as of today. Boo hoo. I'll get through it, and I'm sure my credit card bill will be exceptionally smaller, which is good, because then I can do a mega shop for my birthday in April!!! Ayayay, already thinking of shopping and it's my first day “fasting!”

Anyway, I'm trying to figure out what my 30 pieces are going to be and I'm a little freaked out that I won't be able to put together enough outfits or will pick the “wrong” pieces and my outfits will either be boring or hideous.  Here are a few things I'm thinking about using...

I'm concerned that I'm using a lot of blue and green.  I think I may add some more color into the mix, and maybe another dress and/or skirt.  Still have a lot more pieces to figure out!

I know some of you have done a remix... Do you have any good tips for me?

I like the striped shirt, I wear those with everything they're super versatile. But good luck with the remix, I don't think I could do it!

i'm practically doing a remix too since i'm still waiting for all my clothes to arrive to my new place. i could really use your fashion remixing skills! can't wait to see what you come up with!

great idea and good for you. I love love the floral dress. Since we are going into spring i think you can actually pull it off much easier as the weather will be getting warmer.

PS: thanks for the blog post

I was thinking about giving up shopping, but I'm going on vacation this month and not being able to shop would ruin it, haha

Oh you go girl- remixing is a challenge but so much fun! The shopping ban wasn't successful for me- I just can't go a whole month without hitting up the shops! I love your choices- my tips would be to have at least 5 pairs of footwear and lots of separates (I did lots of dresses and they're harder to remix) Good luck!

I've never done a remix challenge before so I can't offer many tips (also, it looks like you're off to a good start) but I'll be following your progress because I really want to try this myself.

1. Oops, I always forget when lent starts, I'm gonna have to think about what I'm gonna do - I'm thinking caffeine, not certain yet. I have to be careful because I am going on vacation soon, and I don't want to give up something that I'll regret when I'm relaxing.
2. Good luck on your 30 for 30. I have not done one... but I think it'd be hard.

I gave up shopping for Lent, too, although I just finished Kendi's winter 30x30, so it's back-to-back shopping bans for me. I've done this the last couple of years (because shopping is my favorite thing, ever, so it's the obvious choice for Lent), and it's so tough because I want to start shopping for spring clothes as Easter gets closer :)

Good luck with your Lenten remix!

I'd say definitely add some color to your items, and maybe make shoes an accessory, instead of part of your remix items...I missed my shoes the most :)
