Military and Florals - A Remix and A Winner

MILITARY JACKET - Old Navy
FLORAL DRESS - Tracy Feith for Target
PINK BELT - Thrifted
PINK WEDGES - Seychelles
How I Wore The Military Jacket in May:
RED SKINNY JEANS - Little Big
BLACK STRAPPY WEDGES - Colin Stuart
Yesterday we spent the day at the Santa Monica beach near the Annenberg Beach House.  It was so perfect for the girls.  You could park close, they had a cafe, a play area, a bathroom, a fountain and a pathway that went all the way out to the ocean!  The pathway was amazing because I could put the girls and all our stuff in the stroller and go all the way out to the water without getting stuck in the sand.

Pigtails enjoying the fountain
The girls had so much fun.  Princess Sparkles enjoyed collecting tiny little shells, while Pigtails ate tons of sandy food and loved putting her feet in the waves!  Another great part about this beach is after they enjoyed the beach and all it's sand, they could "rinse off" in the fountain.  The girls loved splashing around!

I was so inspired by last week's summer trends challenge from Megan Mae Daily and Casual Chic Kiki that I decided to do "military" and "feminine" again with my Old Navy jacket and Tracy Feith for Target floral dress I got on the clearance rack for $10.

Finding another Target designer dress on the clearance rack in my size was just about as cool as finding a pathway that leads all the way out to the beach (and it's probably just as rare too!).

I wanna be a kid again! That sounded like a great trip to the beach and I've always wanted to play with one of those water fountains...and, you look great, as usual. I'm crazy about your shoes.

The floral and military mix is just genius and I'm so glad you challenged yourself once again. Those olive military inspired/utility jackets I think are here to stay!

Love this take on military and feminine. The dress is so pretty and girly so I like the jacket added. It gives it some edge.

Sounds like you and the girls had a great time at the beach. And yah for a pathway to the beach! No fighting the sand with the stroller. That is a major bonus!

I love the two ways you styled this - and mixing in the pink with the military jacket was such a great idea!

You are the best at finding those designer dresses on clearance! I love the look of that tough jacket with the girly flowers.

You know, I just don't get how much kids like sand. When we're at the beach, mine get sandy from head to toe and it doesn't even bother them. I used to hate getting sandy, but thanks to those little monsters, I'm learning to live with it. lol

Hi Claire - thanks for your comments! I love this military mix w/ floral - I always save my olive colors for fall but you totally make this summer style perfect! Nice score on the $10 dress - adreneline rush!!! I wish I were little again and didn't mind eating sandy PB&J sammiches on the beach...LOL!

What a gorgeous dress! I love how you paired it with the jacket and gave it a pop with the pink belt.

I have been sort of looking for a military jacket, thought it would be fun to have one.

Your precious girls look like they are having a blast! How I'd love to relive those moments again with my boys (o.k., maybe not ALL of the moments, lol!).

Oh, I love fountains like that. We have one here in Salem in front of the capitol building and another in Waterfront Park in Portland and they are just wonderful.

Love that jacket and the pairing in the first outfit is perfection.

Give me reign over your closet for just one day. I beg you.
Those pink Seychelles wedges have me crying because I love the color so much.
That military jacket by Old Navy is probably my favorite thing that you own.
I have no idea how you pull off colored pants the way that you do.
YOU DRIVE ME CRAZY.
In an awesome way.

Oooh, this might surprise you (or, not at all, given our track record...), but I have a jacket very similar to that. And this look went, immediately, into my inspiration file. I love the mix of the jacket with the dress. I can't wait to try something similar :)

I love the contrast of a army jacket and a floral dress, it's perfect together with a pink belt. You're very creative with the clothes you have and I think you've got really versatile pieces.
