Animal Print Dress and Turquoise Wedges

ANIMAL PRINT "DRESS" - Rogan for Target
SNAKESKIN BELT - Thrifted
EARRINGS - Heavenly Treasures
TURQUOISE WEDGES - Lela Rose for Payless
I still remember the day my "little" sister, Polka Dots, grew taller than I did.  It was slightly traumatic because it happened early and she didn't just inch past me she towered over me.  Okay, maybe that's slightly dramatic, but still, when I wear my biggest heels (and I wear big heels), I'm almost as tall as she is.

The thing about being on the petite side is people love to compare their kids' height to you and often make you stand next to them so they can show you how much taller their kids are than you.  I've never appreciated this whatsoever, and often found it kinda humiliating.

I'm not sure whether I'm wearing a tunic or a dress, but whatever it is, I love it and I got it for $10 from Target.  I decided to pair it with a thrifted snakeskin printed belt.  I'm not sure if it's against fashion rules to mix animal prints, but I did it anyway and liked it.  I wanted to add some color so I wore my payless wedges.

Anyway, I truly think Polka Dots grew taller than I did because she slept more (I always liked to get up really early in the morning and she slept in).  But no one ever believes me.  I have always envied my sister's height, though I will say there are some nice things about being petite, like you can wear a tunic as a tunic or you can even wear it as a dress!

Tunic, smunic.........who cares. I think it looks great and I love the shoes.
When I was younger I hated being tall.
I guess you just can't make us happy!
You should have a roster on your side bar so I can keep track of all of these clever names you speak of.

Claire, You really scored when you lucked up on all those designer dresses at Target! I really like this one, too! If your theory is true...don't worry about it. Nothing is worth getting up early in the morning for!!! Debbie http://thriftygirlvintage.com

I love those tourquoise shoes! And I feel ya on the height issue! Im so used to everyone being taller than me, I find it rare when I actually find people (as in grown-ups) who are shorter!

im petite, but u look taller than me=)u know, as a mom, I felt the same way like u do when it comes to comparing kids, I just talked with a friend today and I told her how this "other" friend would just call me and compare babies, her baby, including mine, from weight, percentile, looks, etc...i just wish she would stop and my life would be peaceful. That is not appreciative indeed! I love your dress-animal prints is always one of my picks!

Perhaps I'm in the minority here, but I honestly really like being short! I don't know why. I just wouldn't want to be taller. I think tall people are beautiful, but so are the short ones. I'm okay with it. :)

As for fashion rules, forget 'em. Mix your animal prints if it makes you happy! That dress does look fabulous on you!

My Mum's not very tall so I assumed my sister and I would catch up to her- but alas we never did (I blame it on the lack of milk drinking!) Great outfit- I LOVE those wedges (I need to visit my local Payless asap!)

Argh... I so know the feeling bout people comparing their heights to oneself.

I just console myself by saying that petite girls look cuter haha. I have been wishing for my short stumpy legs to magically elongate everyday!

Love this dress, you are such a hot mother!!! ;)

I kind of hate the phrase "neutrals with a pop of color" but that's exactly what you're doing here and I love it! You look fresh and classic at the same time.

Hey,animal prints are forever. Your dress is a classic and you could probably wear it till it falls apart. Love the pop of teal. As Pigtails would say wow, wow, wow. Visited your giveaway site and saw a lot of nice pieces--a cameo & turquoise bead pendant in the shape of coral were my favs.

I love some animal print. It owns my life.
My first pair of high heels was as pair of turquoise 5-inchers that I bought in the 7th grade.
I'm not kidding.

huh, i didn't know people's kids stand beside you and compare how tall they are to you, that is kind of rude I agree. I'd be pissed haha. heck my grandma gets mad and hits me when I purposely tower over her!

You look adorable and I love the pop of color in the heels!

I don't own anything with animal print. Can you believe it? I keep thinking I ought to branch out and at least buy something.

Oh, I just realized I have a painted on print in my flip flops but that doesn't really count.
