What Do I Wear to a Wedding?

FLORAL DRESS - Loft
NAVY BELT - Thrifted
EARRINGS - Forever 21
BRACELETS - Forever 21, H&M
TULLE HEELS - Charlotte Russe
Yesterday I learned a very valuable lesson... Never ever take your kids through the toy section at Target (even if you think it would be great for your almost 4-year old to pick out a gift for her friend's birthday).  What I thought would be a "quick stop" turned into someone finding something in every row that she wanted: princesses, My Little Ponies, Strawberry Shortcake, swim toys, Barbie?!!! (Princess Sparkles).  While the other one (Pigtails) kept shouting "Ball!", "Baby!" (because that's all she could say that I understood).

Double trouble
(especially at Target!)
Anyway, I decided to try on a dress I'm probably going to wear to my cousin's wedding Saturday (Princess Sparkles is going to be a flower girl!).  I've never worn this dress before (though I bought it forever ago).  I was shopping with Pastor Pleats at the Loft when I spotted it.  I wasn't going to buy it but Pastor Pleats insisted I get it because it was only $8.  I'm glad she did.  It's pretty shapeless so I paired it with a navy belt Fair Isle thrifted for me (thanks, Mom!) and my "ballerina birthday shoes" from Fierce, Fedora and Fancy!

I always find it hard to pick something I already have in my closet to wear to a wedding.  In fact, I usually end up going out and buying a new dress (or five...but don't worry, I return them) that I only wear once and never again (like I'm a celebrity!).  It's almost as bad as being a kid in the toy section at Target.  But this time I'm actually wearing something I already have.  Yay me!

Yah for sure, because this dress looks fabulous on you! The vibrant colors look fantastic on you and those ballerina shoes are gorgeous!

You should remix this for your remix days and edge it up a bit! Like a cool black leather jacket or blazer and some cool motorcycle boots :)

I just love the purples in that dress! The earrings are pretty too, are they a recent purchase? I have credit at F21 :)

What $8!? Loft always has the most outrageous sales and I love every minute of it! You look beautiful, purple is a wonderful color on you!

Love the ballerina heels!! :)

BTW, I always buy before I shop my closet, but now I'm getting better with looking at home first..lol

fabulous dress, love it with the heels, bright prints and colors always look good on you! Your girls are cute, at least they do a tantrum show at the toys section, see them all the time. I'm always intrigued by the names you give to everyone...so creative.

Gorgeous! I love the shoes so much. I tend to be like you, going out and buying a dress and then never wearing it again.

That dress is gorgeous!!!

Sparkles and Pigtails crack me up. I can relate all too well! At a recent Target trip, my Little Guy was asking for every toy he saw. Even the ones in the baby department! lol

I think this is a great dress for a wedding. Those shoes are fabulous!

Whenever we go to Target my nephew (he's 7) makes me take pictures of what he wants on my cell phone to send to Santa. And not just close to Christmas either. He also makes me write Christmas lists all year long - my purse is full of them!

Such a pretty dress and for only $8? What a deal!

I'm with you on purchasing a new dress for special occasions. I've done it before, but I finally got tired of spending money on something I rarely wear, so I try really hard to remix what I already own. I'll maybe buy a special accessory or update my special occasion heels instead.

This dress is perfect for a wedding- fun, cheerful and flattering! I am in love with your Charlotte Russe shoes but am glad I don't have one close by to shop at (or my wallet would be even more sparse!) Take some photos of Princess Sparkles as a flower girl- that will be so sweet!

Love your dress. Makes me think of
orchids. Good for you for closet
shopping. That's more left to spend
on shoes:) Toy departments are
torture for everyone. Can't wait to
hear how Princess Sparkles & Pigtails handle the wedding.

Oh my gosh. This is that traditional kids in a toystore story. With me, it was a bookstore and you couldn't get me to leave.

Go, you! That dress is fabulous and perfect for wearing to a wedding. The platforms are a perfect punch.

I too was the kid in the bookstore. I liked toys, but I liked books more. Teaching kids to give is a good lesson though.

I would have never known the dress was shapeless if you hadn't said anything! :) You look wonderful!

I was never the kid in the toy store... from a very, very young age, the only thing I wanted was books! :) And luckily for me I had parents who were more than happy to get as many books as I wanted!

I usually want to celebrate a special occasion ( like a wedding) with a new dress, but why spend when you can look so fabulous in this one that you already have!

the fit of that dress after adding the belt is lovely and the colors look great on you!

So this is the dress you told me about for $8? I am so glad you got it, it looks very nice on you and the belt was a great touch! It's not easy to take two kids out let alone to Target in the toy section! Sounds like you pulled through :)

I can't believe that dress was only $8...it's gorgeous. I love the belt pairing, too.

I don't know why, but I always do the same thing...I can't seem to get away with going to a wedding without buying a new dress first. I'm going to a US reception next month for a wedding that's being held in Italy, so I'm hoping that will help me break the pattern :)
