Socks and Sandals - "Messing Up" a Fall Trend

BLACK AND WHITE DRESS - Banana Republic (thrifted)
YELLOW CARDIGAN - Gap Outlet
MARY JANES - Dr. Scholls (via Macys)

"Pig-Pen," that's the nickname I should've given Pigtails.  My best friend, Cardi, says my 18-month old reminds her of the Peanuts character because no matter how I dress her or what I do with her hair, within minutes she has become a complete mess with dirt on her clothes, mysterious sticky stuff in her hair (which falls in her face), and has left a trail of food all over the house.  And yet she always accessorizes with that ridiculously adorable dimpled smile.

Pig-Pen
Pigtails
Today I'm linking up to Pleated Poppy's "What I Wore Wednesday" and Spunky Chateau's "Thursdays are for Thrifters."  This is NOT a maternity dress, but something I thrifted at the Goodwill.  It's Banana Republic and it fit really well.  I also decided to do something different with the socks and mary janes.  I'm sure I didn't quite pull this trend off right (tips?), since most pics I see the models are wearing solid colored socks (and not these crazy patterned patchy ones) but for some reason I guess I'm not a solid sock buyer.  Oh well.

I did read in one of my magazines that "socks and sandals" are one one of the trends men dislike the most.  Luckily for me I'm married, preggo and not looking for a man, so I'm going to wear this style, even if I'm doing it wrong.  Because fashion should be about what the person wants to do, even if it's wearing dirt in her clothes and mysterious sticky stuff in her hair!

I think your socks and shoes combo looks great! I want to try it this fall, too. Lucky for me I have two kids in tow and a husband that is usually amused by what I wear. Yay for fashion freedom, right? :)

You look amazing and I think you pulled off the socks and mary jane look just right. It's something I've been wanting to try but don't think I can pull off at all. I wouldn't change anything about your attempt though.

And I love the Pigtails/Pigpen comparison - she's so adorable. And Pigpen is one of my favorites.

I think you totally pulled off the socks and "sandals"! They're really cute on you!

Also, I couldn't help but laugh at your comment about being married and preggo and not looking for a man. You're funny. =)

You definitely pulled off the socks and sandals look! It's so fun and flirty! You look great :)

We have a guy at work we call Pigpen. Everytime he brings something back to the office it is filthy! Pigtails is WAY cuter! I would rather have her in our office anyday, lol!

I like your socks and sandals! It is so funny because I have been wanting to try that trend as well. I actually wore socks with my shoes today but chickened out and threw them off before I came into work today. I love your "I'm married and preggo and not looking for a man" comment. LOL

Good thing you are married and preggo because I've read men have fantasies about ladies in soxs and mary janes. Isn't that Princess Sparkles' tiara?..she must be somewhere else. Must say Pigtails looks adorable in PS's girly stuff.

Oh, you are so cute! Totally pulled off the sock trick. I'm a little worried to try it b/c I have thick ankles, LOL.

I'm no expert, but I love how you're wearing the socks and sandals! That's a trend I've tried on a few times, but I haven't been brave enough to wear in public. I love the look, just not my pasty white legs!

Ah, this post reminds me why i've missed following you!! You are still so super cute and I LOVE how you rocked the socks and mary janes!!
Congrats on your pregnancy...wow, I have been out of the loop for a while!
Also, I didn't realize that we have daughters the same age. Mine will be 18 months in a few days and I know what you mean about the mess. Pigtails is doll baby though!! I wish we could get our girls together...Ajuma has a feathery crown just like that:-) Happy to be back and keeping up with you again!

Wrong? I think it looks great! I love those socks with the mary janes. I think that's the best way to do it. The dress fits well for something not meant to be maternity. I know if I ever got pregnant, my Goodwill is loaded with an adorable maternity section (So hooray for thrifting while preggers!)

Your little girls are too cute. I remember my younger cousin being a lot like your Pigtails. I was the opposite type of child, freaking out at stuff on my hands/face/hair.

pigtails is super cue, I love dimpled smiles. Her faux fur coat is so hollywood glam. And your sandals and socks are not ordinary, they are super cute so definitely a go-go for me if you ask. It's great that you can still wear your usual clothes. This dress really flatters your body so well. The yellow cardi is a nice color accent.
