Tutu Skirt, Diamond Stud Earrings and a Clapper

Bang, bang.  Bucket pounded his truck against the wall.
I asked him what he was doing and he smiled.
Then he banged the truck again.
The lamp turned on and he was so excited.
I realized he was playing with the lights, that stinker.
And yes, we have a clapper
(thanks to a white elephant at Camouflage's work).

TUTU - Thrifted
SWEATER - Caslon, Swapped
SHEARLING BLACK MOTO VEST - Loehmanns
BLACK COMBAT BOOTS - Zigi Girl, Nordstrom
DIAMOND STUD EARRINGS - c/o Anjolee

BLUE STRIPED TOP - Old Navy, $8
BLACK PRINTED JEANS - Foreign Exchange, $10
SPIKEY BALLET FLATS - Target
BARBED WIRE EARRINGS - iSanctuary

This week I wore a thrifted tutu to church with a moto vest and combat boots.  I'm in love with these boots because they're comfortable.  I got them during the anniversary sale at Nordstrom.  The cashmere sweater I got during a swap with friends and the vest is from Loehmanns.  The second outfit is an everyday casual one.  The top is Old Navy clearance and the jeans were $10 at Foreign Exchange.

I also wanted to mention these awesome Diamond Stud Earrings I got from Anjolee.  I wore them with the first outfit because I liked the juxtaposition of something classy with my combat boots and moto vest.  Anjolee customizes jewelry according to preference of metal type, diamond size, gemstone quality and size.  They have a ton of birthstones to choose from and their website makes it really easy to design the perfect piece of jewelry.

Bucket drives the truck he used to turn on the light behind him.

I love my new Diamond Stud Earrings.  They match everything and they always look good.  I also appreciate that they never go out of style, kinda like the Clapper.

Purple Leather Skirt, Contrast Sleeve Jacket and No Internet

"Momma, when you were born were there cars there?"
Princess Sparkles asked me as we drove off from church.
How old does the kid think I am?
I told her yes, there were cars.
"Because when you were born, there had to be something not there."
She had a point, we didn't have GPS, cell phones or the internet!

BLACK LEATHER PEPLUM - NY&Co
PURPLE LEATHER SKIRT - Hand-me-down from my mom
ZEBRA BELT - thrifted
HEELS - Michael Kors, thrifted

FAUX LEATHER JACKET - Foreign Exchange
STRIPED SHIRT - TJ Maxi
LEGGINGS - Old Navy
ANIMAL PRINT RING - Forever 21
BROWN LEATHER BOOTS - White Mountain, thrifted

HIGH STYLE SIENNA - Maybelline Color Show
24 CARATS - Old Navy

Here are a few outfits from the week.  The first is a NY&Co peplum paired with a vintage purple leather skirt.  My mom, Fair Isle, wore the skirt in the 80s.  The Kenneth Cole heels and zebra belt are both thrifted.  The second outfit I'm linking up with "Inspiration Monday."  The jacket I picked up on sale at Foreign Exchange, along with a shirt (it has faux leather on the pocket and sleeves!) I got on clearance at TJ Maxx and some thrifted boots.

Someone who didn't exist in the 80s enjoys a marionette show

I wore a lot of leather (faux and real) this past week.  I love how timeless it can be.  Because even though the internet didn't exist when I was a kid, this awesome purple leather skirt did, and Fair Isle was rockin' it!

Navy Rag and Bone Newbury Boots and a Taxi

"Mommy, have I ever been in a taxi?"
Princess Sparkles asked me as we drove around.
I told her she probably had but I couldn't remember.
"Well, Daddy knows everything so he'll know if I've been in a taxi.
He even knows what 100 + 60 is."

NAVY SHORTS, BLACK SHIRT - Target
HEART CARDIGAN - Nordstrom
NAVY ANKLE BOOTIES - Rag and Bone

BLACK ROSE TANK, BRACELET - swapped
STRIPED SKIRT - Old Navy
FEDORA - Eugenia Kim for Target
FLIP FLOPS - Rainbow

The first outfit is another pair of Target shorts I bought for $7 (the green ones I wore in the last post).  The cardigan I found at Nordstroms.  I liked the heart print and it happens to match perfectly with my new navy Rag and Bone boots that Camouflage so kindly "bought" me for our anniversary (I found them at American Rag for 50% off!!!).  In the second outfit, I wore my Old Navy maxi with a swapped black tank and fedora.  Everything always looks more dressed up with a fedora.

Princess Sparkles celebrates her 6th bday with a sundae!

I was thrilled when I/Camouflage bought me these awesome Rag and Bone "Newbury" booties.  At first I wasn't sure how many things would match with navy, but I guess it's the new black!  Camouflage definitely got me exactly what I wanted for our anniversary.  Apparently he does know everything.

Utility Jacket, Black Blazer and a Night Owl

"You know I'm nocturnal,"
Princess Sparkles said as she got ready for bed.
I didn't know.  In fact, I didn't know she knew what nocturnal meant.
"I don't sleep at night.  I wake up.  And then I play."
No wonder she's so tired in the morning.

HARROW BOOTIES - Rag & Bone

Here are a few outfits from the week.  The first I wore to Shabbat dinner at my friend's house.  The suede skirt and tribal print top are both thrifted and the Kelsi Dagger heels I found on clearance at Loehmanns for $11.  The second outfit I'm linking up to "Inspiration Monday" from Two Birds.  I paired some acid wash shorts with my Kate Young for Target blazer and Rag and Bone booties.

What happens when you don't sleep at night...

The great thing about a jacket, whether a casual utility one or a dressier black blazer, is it really pulls together an outfit.  It's also perfect for a cool summer evening, especially if you happen to be nocturnal.

Stripes, Neon and Getting Rich

"Mommy, I want you to be one of those store ladies.
The ones who scan things,"
Princess Sparkles said.
I asked her why and she replied,
"Because then you get rich and I want you to get rich."
Yeah, me too...

NEON STRIPED SHIRT - Old Navy
WHITE JEANS - Flying Monkey (thrifted)
BROWN/GOLD BELT - Michael Kors (thrifted)

NAVY STRIPED SHIRT - French Connection (thrifted)
GREEN JEANS - Target
BRACELET - Shop With A Mission
NECKLACE - iSanctuary
WEDGES - Payless

Here are a few outfits from the week.  I decided to do a "white outfit" thanks to "Inspiration Monday" from Two Birds.  But rather than the dress they chose I decided to wear white jeans and pair them with a neon yellow chevron top and my GS Lillian statement necklace.  I also wore my green Target jeans, which I rolled, and added some thrifted navy stripes.

I think I said I was going to wear fun summer dresses for the week.  Well, I didn't do that but I did wear lots of stripes and jeans!  I love my thrifted finds and my Target clothes.  I think even if I was a rich store lady I would still go thrifting and buy stuff on clearance!!!

Rag and Bone Harrow Boots and Privacy

"Don't look at my privacy,"
Pigtails said as I helped her change into her watermelon dress.
I averted my eyes as I put on her "panty wear."
I asked her if she wanted to wear her usual leggings.
"No, I want that gold skirt."
Pigtails definitely has her own special way of layering.
Like how she made me put her in two princess nightgowns at the same time.
Because... "Mommy, it's comfortable."

BLACK AND WHITE FLORAL TOP - Forever 21 (swapped)
GRAY CUT OFFS - Black Orchid
OFF WHITE CARDIGAN - Old Navy

BLACK BOOTIES (not pictured) - Hogan (thrifted)

GRAY AND YELLOW BUTTON UP TOP - CAbi (thrifted)
LIGHT WASH DENIM CUT OFFS - Express
HARROW BOOTIES - Rag and Bone

I got the floral top from a swap I did with girlfriends and the gray cut offs were on clearance at Loehmanns.  The black booties you can't see (thanks to Bucket) were thifted by my mom, Fair Isle.  They're Hogan and they're fabulous!  The light wash jeans have been a staple for me lately.  They match everything.  The top was thrifted from GW after Gingham spotted it on the rack.  The Harrow boots are the nicest thing I own.  My sis-in-law, Argyle, got them for me at American Rag.  I LOVE them!!!  Walked a couple miles in them and they didn't hurt at all!

Pigtails poses with Bucket in her watermelon dress (and my sunglasses!)

Yes, I'm still wearing cut offs.  A lot of them.  It's just hot and well, I like them.  But don't worry, you can't see my privacy and honestly, they're just so darn comfortable.

Kate Young for Target Blazer, Suede Maxi Skirt and Some Cleaning

"[Pigtails] cleaned the room all by herself,"
Princess Sparkles exclaimed.
"And I paid her money!!!"
She said as she handed her excited little sister a nickel.
"Tomorrow I'm gonna have her do lots more chores."
That sounds good to me!

WRAP BRACELET, PURSE - Heavenly Treasures
TURQUOISE EARRINGS - Vintage from my mom
AQUA WEDGES - Target (thrifted)

Here are some recent outfits.  The striped tank is from Foreign Exchange.  It buttons in back (Sparkles: "You're wearing your shirt backwards", Camouflage: "You're out!  Foul!").  The blazer is Kate Young for Target which I found on clearance.  The second outfit is a thrifted suede skirt with thrifted wedges.  I was in a "tribal" mood.  I'm linking both of these with "Inspiration Monday" from Two Birds.  The first for the stripes and denim, the second for the maxi skirt!

I also wanted to thank TShirtPrinting.Org for hooking my girls up with Spinning Threads shirts.  Recently I won a printed tee from Mary Jo's blog "Trust Your Style" and when they contacted me I asked about buying an additional shirt so each of my girls could have one and they offered to do it for free!  They do all sorts of t-shirt printing so if you're in need of some then go check 'em out!

A printed tee is definitely a closet staple.  It's comfy and a fun way to show off some personality.  Because although I love getting dressed up in skirts and a blazer, when I'm at home I'm probably cleaning and wearing a t-shirt and pajama pants.

Stars, Camouflage, Vests and a Grouch

"Mommy, what's going on with you?"
Pigtails asked me as I buckled her into the car.
I was having a stressful morning but had to stop and laugh.
"Sorry, mommy was being grouchy."
Pigtails smiled, cocked her head slightly and said,
"That's okay, mommy."

MAXI DRESS, NAVY VEST, WEDGES - Target

ANNIVERSARY RING - c/o Anjolee

Here are a few outfits from the week.  The first is my Memorial Day inspired attire which I'm linking up with "Inspiration Monday" from Two Birds.  I got the star tank from Karmaloop for $8 and the shorts were swapped.  I wasn't sure how navy stars would pair with camouflage but I ended up really liking it.  The maxi dress was a Target clearance purchase from a few years back.

Pigtails eats a mega strawberry

Obviously I'm wearing vests a lot.  For some reason I feel like they make my sleeveless outfits feel a little less revealing and sorta pull everything together.  And fashionwise, that's what's going on with me.
