Pattern Mixing - Stripes and Argyle

"Thank you, me!"
Princess Sparkles really appreciates herself.
Especially when she makes chocolate banana pudding.
At least she's polite.

STRIPED HIGH-LOW SKIRT - Target, $7.50
CREAM FLOWER SHIRT - CaBi
ARGYLE CARDIGAN - Old Navy, $15
WEDGES - Payless, $20

I have a new obsession... high-low skirts (I know, I have a lot of obsessions).  Not only are they comfortable, but work well with my nursing tanks and cardigans.  I bought this striped one on clearance from target.com for $7.50!  I thought I'd try "pattern mixing" so I wore it with the argyle cardigan.  The purse is my sister's LV knock off.  But Polka Dots wasn't using it so she lent it to me.

Princess Sparkles eats the dessert she made for everyone.
"Thank you, me!"

I recently ordered three high-low skirts from target.com, this striped one, an ikat one and a coral one.  I figured I'd just keep the one I liked best.  I ended up liking them all... a lot.  So I'm keeping them.  "Thank you, me!!!"

Mixing Patterns - Velvet Dress and Cynthia Vincent for Target Wedges

BLACK AND WHITE DRESS - Velvet
YELLOW CARDIGAN - Gap Outlet
ZEBRA EARRINGS - Heavenly Treasures
WHITE WATCH - Sprout
MULTI-COLORED WEDGES - Cynthia Vincent for Target

It always cracks me up what my kids will put in their mouths.  I think I was much more conservative with Princess Sparkles, but with Pigtails, I'm definitely laid back.  Today when Pigtails awoke from her nap I saw her roll over and find a crumb from a cupcake she had been eating prior to falling asleep (with Princess Sparkles, she wouldn't have even been eating a cupcake at Pigtails' age).  It was on the bed next to her and she happily grabbed it and shoved it into her mouth with a smile.

Today I wore a black and white Velvet brand dress I purchased from a local boutique.  I really like Velvet dresses because they're so comfortable (no, they're not made of velvet but jersey).  Still in my pattern mixing mood from yesterday, I decided to pair the dress with my favorite Cynthia Vincent for Target wedges and some zebra earrings.  I added the yellow cardi for some color.

Anyway, I have to say my style has definitely evolved since starting this blog.  I don't worry so much about matching perfectly, and I like to experiment by mixing patterns, colors, even styles.  I guess you could say my style has evolved, much like my parenting!

The other day I was reading a book with Princess Sparkles about planets and I was talking about Venus.  She turned to me and said, "Mommy, penis is not a planet."  I tried not to laugh, but I couldn't help myself.  I looked over at Camouflage who just shook his head.  He was doing a much better job of holding in his laughter.

I'm really blessed to have some great fathers in my life.  There's my own loving and supportive dad, my helpful and encouraging stepdad (Henley) and my kind-hearted and thoughtful father-in-law.  I also really appreciate how much they love Princess Sparkles and Pigtails.

I'm also so lucky to have such a great husband and partner in Camouflage.  He always thinks of others before himself.  Yesterday he watched Princess Sparkles and Pigtails all day while I helped throw a baby shower and then he let my own father stay over night and hang out with us all Sunday.

Camo is the most wonderful husband and father there is.  Thank you for taking care of our family, loving us and knowing when NOT to laugh at inappropriate phrases!  I love you, Camo!  Happy Father's Day!

Mixing Bright Colors, Prints and Everything You're NOT Supposed to Do

FUSCHIA JERSEY DRESS - Velvet
YELLOW CARDIGAN - Gap
BLUE HANDBAG - Linea Pelle for Target
MULTI-COLORED WEDGES - Cynthia Vincent for Target

Pigtails loves to get into mischief.  This morning, she woke up before everyone else so I took her out to the living room and I lay down on the couch.  I was starting to fall asleep and realized it was much too quiet so I forced myself up and found Pigtails on Princess Sparkles' bed playing with all her Yo Gabba Gabba dolls.  Then this afternoon, Princess Sparkles, who NEVER naps, fell asleep in the car so I put her down on the rug.  I went to get some laundry and came out to find Pigtails, with a huge smile, leaning over Princess Sparkles whom she had "dressed up"  with a hat!

Today I was in a rush to get out so I threw on this dress I recently bought with a groupon (Thanks, Polka Dots!) at a local boutique.  I know, you're thinking I have way too many dresses, but the groupon was expiring so I had to use it!  The dress fit really well and was the EXACT price of the groupon so I didn't spend any extra money.  Yay!

I was also feeling energized from my run this morning (wish I was still feeling that now!) so I decided to pair this outfit with lots of brights!  I know, the colors don't really match whatsoever.  But I liked the idea of wearing pink and yellow.  Then I thought why wear neutral shoes?  My favorite wedges have both these colors in it.  And finally, if I'm already wearing every bit of color from my wedges, why not carry a bright blue purse to finish off the superfecta?

Anyway, I know, I'm a rebel.  I'm breaking all the fashion rules, but I don't care.  Guess that makes me mischievous too, huh?
