A Fashion Emergency

"TOO SMALL FOR ME" DRESS - Luella Bartley for Target
WHITE HENLEY SHIRT - Old Navy
BLACK T-BACK VEST - CAbi
RED SLINGBACK HEELS - Enzo Angiolini
Help!  I'm having a fashion emergency.  No, it's not that I don't have shoes to match a dress or my favorite white top is now pink.  But I'M STUCK IN A DRESS!!!  Literally.  I cannot pull myself out of it.  In fact, I'm going to have to wear it over to a friends house to have her pull it off of me.  And I still fear that it might not be possible.

FLASHBACK.  2 Hours Ago...

I pick up Princess Sparkles and ask her where she wants to food shop.  Trader Joe's?  She can get a balloon.  Of course she chooses Target (a girl after my own heart) and of course I peruse the clearance section and find those darn designer dresses for $10!  Of course buy up all the ones I returned.  Of course they weren't all my size.

Now herein lies the problem.  NEVER SQUEEZE YOURSELF INTO A DRESS THAT IS TOO SMALL FOR YOU.  NEVER.  I somehow managed to wiggle myself into this cute one.  And for a second I thought it actually looked pretty good.  Then I went to take it off.  I can't get the right grip to pull it over my linebacker shoulders.  And it definitely won't be sliding over my momma hips.

CUT TO:  Now.

I had a cute outfit but this dress isn't coming off, so I had to work with it.  I'd really prefer not to cut the dress.  But we'll have to see.  I'm heading over to my friend, Stripes, house soon for a playdate slash "please help me yank this dress off my body" date.  You'll have to wait to see how it turns out.  But you might be seeing a "3 Ways to Wear a Dress that doesn't fit you" post.

TO BE CONTINUED...

p.s. despite the Fashion Emergency, I did link up to the Pleated Poppy and "What I Wore Wednesday!"

  2. You'd never be able to tell you are uncomfortable in that dress. The styling is magic!

I make poor decisions at Target all the time. It is just too easy.

  3. It is so easy to make poor choices when the clothes are so cheap. I hope you can find a way to rework that dress and make it wearable.

  4. Oh my gosh, I'm so relieved to know that I'm not the only one who has done this!!!

It's monstrously uncomfortable, I know - but it does look adorable on you! I'm sorry it's too small!!!

  6. I've done the same thing! Good luck getting it off - at least you're stuck in something you look good in! :)

Now I'm going to have to go to Target and search out that gray leopard print one. I know in my head it's an awkward length on me but my heart still wants it. Hee hee!

  7. I've been there -- it's always a crappy experience. But this looks like it actually fits you where, in my case, it looked painfully obvious that the dress did not fit!

  10. Lol, that not good! I hope it comes of easy and you don't have a "FRIENDS" Ross in the leather pants issue. The dress looks great as a skirt so maybe you can have it altered.

I can never find a great sale at Target anymore, but I did find a beautiful dress there recently.

  13. AH YOU LOOK AWESOME. THat skirt is way awesome. It looks like it'd be so much fun to jump around in. I love it.

AND AH. That's awful. I've never gotten into a dress THAT badly. Well, once at a store, I was trying on a tiny dress. Um, I kind of broke the zipper SH DON'T TELL ANYONE SHHHHH.

Good luck. I'm eagerly looking forward to an update ;)

  15. Real life provides great writing material once again!! Well, it does look good as a skirt and is probably way more practical. Maybe Princess Sparkles could have something made out of the top?

  16. AHAHA I totally did the same thing at Target - i picked up the leopard dress in an extra small and thought, for $10, I'll make it fit!
Then I couldn't get the damn thing off in the dressing room and I thought for sure it was going to rip and I was wondering if the woman at the dressing room would get mad....
but somehow I wriggled out and got the heck out of there!

  18. I would not think that that dress was too tight unless you said something, it is adorable, so hoping you didn't have to cut it off! Can't wait to hear what happened...and isn't Target just the great body/time suck? I don't even let myself drive down the block it's on because I know I won't be able to stop myself from buying tons of stuff!

  19. $10? I'm so there! That is a cute dress! Dude, you're legs are tone! I've been in that predicament before--in a dressing room! Actually, twice! The first time was when I hadn't realized how much weight I had gained the first year of being married. The second time I don't know what happened.

  21. Lol! So funny :) But it's so hard to resist dresses so cheap even though it's too small. I hope you get to salvage it still after getting out of it :)

    ReplyDelete
  22. Haha you look awesome in your dress, it doesn't look the tiniest bit too small for you my dearie!!

Sometimes I get stuck in a dress too, but it is usually because of the placement of the zips or the tailored fit of the dress.

Hehe anyways I can't believe the coincidence over Blythe! It must be so uber exciting to do that script. :)

I have just begun on my Blythe journey, and am still pondering if that much money to spend on dolls is a sane way to live...

  23. lol oh dear! Ive beeen close to this in the changing rooms....'can i get out of this with out ripping it and if i do will they notice when i give it back' haha hope you get out

  24. I have had this happen. Don't feel bad. I just ripped the dress and put it back. This was followed by me frantically fleeing the scene. I felt bad, but I really didn't want to pay for it because I can be a cheapskate, sometimes. (Rarely.)
I have also gotten stuck in fitting rooms and had to climb under the door, only to be caught by somebody - every single time.
That has also happened to me in the bathroom.
My life is a sick joke.

  25. Oh no! I've definitely had this happen to me in dressing rooms before. Instant panic. Did the dress make it?

Love the red shoes with the plaid, though!

  27. This has totally happened to me. Broad shoulders, broad hips and back muscles that flex when I try to pull stuff over my head has caused me to be stuck more than once!
